Awareness of Dementia (Level 2 Award) e-learning training course

This e-learning training course is aimed at those preparing to work in the care of individuals with dementia, as continuous professional development (CPD) for those who want to develop their knowledge of dementia care, or for those individuals who already work in the health and social care profession.

The course comprises of the following units:

  • Dementia awareness
  • The person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
  • Understanding the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
  • Understanding equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care

'Full course' below refers to the stand alone e-learning course. Cost £80.

Full qualification attracts an additional cost of £300 +VAT. This includes:

  • Marking assignments and tutor support via email

Our dementia training course entitled ‘Awareness of Dementia (Level 2 Award)’ aims to improve the delivery of dementia care and improve the lives of people with dementia through the development of an informed and effective workforce.

This dementia training course aims to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of dementia and provide effective support, high quality information, education and training for workers caring for people with dementia.

Care workers who complete this dementia training course will understand that the term 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms that include loss of memory, mood changes, and problems with communication and reasoning. They will learn that there are many types of dementia. The most common are Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. Dementia is progressive, which means the symptoms will gradually get worse.

Effective dementia training enables care workers to overcome communication barriers caused by dementia and provides ideas and suggestion for supporting people with dementia deal with lapses in memory and possible mood changes.

After completing this dementia training course, learners will appreciate the importance of an early diagnosis of dementia and will know how the symptoms of dementia can affect a person in their care.
