In 2010 the eight Skills for Care Common induction Standards were revised. Embrace Learning provide this Common Induction Standards training course aimed at adult social care staff working in domiciliary care settings. This up-to-date version of the training course covers current policy and practice and is intended for people entering adult social care for the first time, or for people who are changing their job roles and who need to refresh their knowledge of the common induction standards.
Care managers should note that the common induction standards 2005 no longer apply and should be replaced with the common induction standards 2010 for your organisation to comply with current legislation.
By rolling out the eight common induction standards throughout the health and social care sectors a significant step has been made in the provision of the highest levels of quality care and support. All people working in adult social care domestic settings are obliged to complete the common induction standards and demonstrate their achievements and abilities within twelve weeks of starting work in their domestic care environment. Care providers also gain the additional advantage of their staff being prepared for future training and qualifications by the skills they have learned from completing the common induction standards.
Learners should note that the common induction standards map to the mandatory units in the Health and Social Care Diploma. Each of the common induction standards cover a number of subjects that care workers and care volunteers working in domiciliary settings need to know before they are allowed to work unsupervised within a domestic care environment.
Managers should note that they have a duty of care to ensure that staff working in a domestic adult social care environment have met the required learning outcomes contained within the common induction standards and that care workers or volunteers are able to demonstrate that they have achieved an adequate and thorough knowledge of the common induction standards.
This training course covers the revised learning outcomes from the eight Skills for Care Common Induction Standards that form the basis of registration for all Adult Social Care staff. The new standards provide an excellent foundation for care staff in their role in providing care and support to individuals in both domiciliary and residential settings. The training course is essential induction training for all new care staff and should be completed within 12 weeks of starting employment. It provides the underpinning knowledge required for QCF qualifications and all Social Care training.
A workbook is included for each standard, containing questions that cover all 130 learning outcomes. It can be completed online or printed out and filled in manually. Completion and manager sign-off provides evidence towards meeting the knowledge requirements of the core and mandatory units of the Health and Social Care Diploma, verifiable through CQC inspection.
