Common Induction Standards (Adults): e-learning course
Background
This new course covers the six Common Induction Standards that form the basis of registration of all Adult Social Care staff. The common induction standards set out the basic things that care workers need to know for their role in providing care or support to individuals in both domiciliary and residential settings, no matter what their needs may be.
Course units cover the six Common Induction Standards for Social Care:
- The principles of care
- The organisation and the role of the worker
- Safety at work
- Effective communication
- Recognition and response to abuse and neglect
- Development as a social care worker
Learning Objectives
On completion of this course learners will be able to apply the knowledge gained from the course in their work.
They will be able to:
- cite relevant legislation
- explain the meaning and application of person-centred care
- define their responsibilities regarding confidentiality
- list their duties in the area of safe moving and handling
- know when first aid is required and whether or not to administer it
- list the security and personal safety precautions to be taken
- communicate effectively with service users
- record and report relevant information
- identify abuse and neglect and know how to respond to it.
E-learning is an efficient and cost-effective way to deliver this knowledge: the course provides the required key facts for each standard with quizzes and tests throughout each unit and a formal assessment at the end to check learning and understanding. On completion, staff will be equipped with the necessary knowledge to carry out their duties competently in accordance with the Common Induction Standards.
